Yesterday the music world lost another legend, Famed Blues singer Koko Taylor. (aka The Queen of Blues) Very few women have been able to conquer the male dominated blues world; however Koko was one that earned the respect of all Bluesmen with her deep passionate vocals. She was the first women to ever sing the blues to me, and being a lover of blues guitar and the vocal stylings of raspy women it was only a matter of time before I discover her and her pipes. She has been awarded every possible Blues & music award she could, and while I never had the chance to see her in person I have heard and read about how she could dominate the stage. Her later albums are a collection of amazing vocals, but it is her early recordings that have the raw blues feeling that hits the core of the soul. I suggest you pick up any of her albums if you are a blues fan, you will not be disappointed.
